Dr. Heather F. Fleschler is pleased to offer patients in the Houston, TX area a wide range of services to improve the smile–including Invisalign® orthodontics. Many patients have heard of this treatment and have lots of questions. This includes questions about how the treatment works and how many aligner trays are needed to improve the smile.

What is Invisalign® and how does it work?

Invisalign® is a clear aligner system that gradually moves your teeth into the desired position. Each aligner is custom-made for your individual teeth, and you will need to wear a new aligner every two weeks. As you progress through each aligner, your teeth will move bit by bit until they are in the desired position. Invisalign® is a great option for people who want to straighten their teeth without having to wear metal braces. The aligners are virtually invisible, so no one will even know you’re wearing them! Invisalign® is also removable, so you can eat whatever you want and brush and floss your teeth with ease.

How many trays will my Invisalign® treatment have?

The number of trays (aligners) you will need for your Invisalign® treatment will depend on the severity of your misalignment. Your orthodontist or Invisalign provider will be able to give you a more accurate estimate of how many aligners you will need once they have had a chance to assess your individual case. However, in general, most people can expect to use around 20-30 aligners over the course of their treatment.

What are the benefits of Invisalign®?

There are many benefits of Invisalign®, which is why this treatment method has become so popular in recent years. Some of the main advantages of Invisalign® include:

  • Invisalign® is virtually invisible, so no one will even know you’re wearing them!
  • The aligners are removable, so you can eat whatever you want and brush and floss your teeth with ease.
  • Invisalign® is a more comfortable alternative to metal braces.
  • Invisalign® treatments usually take less time than traditional braces (9 months to a year on average).
